Robert Laughton, B.A.

Robert Laughton is a seasoned investment professional with over 30 years experience in the capital markets in both Canada and the USA. He has worked for a large institutional investor, a Wall Street investment bank and for a money manager.  He specializes in investment consulting for retirement plans and trust funds assisting clients across Canada with the development and implementation of all aspects of PBI’s risk solutions approach.

Robert joined PBI in 2010 from Jarislowsky Fraser Ltd. where he managed the fixed income portfolio strategy of portfolios totalling over $8 billion. In addition he was responsible for Jarislowsky Fraser’s Liability Driven Investing (LDI) product. Robert also worked several years for Bear Stearns & Co. in New York and London in the debt capital markets and with the structured products group. Prior to this he spent 17 years with Manulife Financial, managing U.S. fixed income portfolios totalling $10 billion. His experience includes many years of working on asset liability management issues, annuities and life insurance company investments.

Robert is fluent in English and French and is located in our Montreal office. Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics & Finance from the University of Toronto, graduating in 1980.
