Pensions Overview
PBI offers a wealth of experience in pension fund consulting and the administration of plan benefits for multiemployer, negotiated-cost pension plans. Our clients have come to expect us to go beyond providing actuarial valuations as a commodity. They expect us to provide analysis reflecting plan design and to ensure the link between plan assets and liabilities is appropriate to make certain that accrued benefits will never get cut.
Negotiated contribution pension plans require a different approach than typical defined-benefit corporate plans, and PBI has the expertise to provide that different approach. These plans represent our sole source of pension consulting revenue, so we have built our team around this expertise.
We are responsible for filing actuarial valuations for multiemployer, negotiated-cost pension plans varying in size with assets ranging from $15 million to $3.2 billion, with membership ranging from 100 to 85,000 total members. Plan members of our clients are all unionized employees from such sectors as pulp and paper, trades, transportation, telecommunications, news print, and food and commercial workers. PBI’s associates have served most of these plans for over 30 years.
